Art and exhibitions: timeless dialogues

Art in Naples is a bridge between past and present, a continuous dialogue that unfolds through its prestigious venues. At the Gallerie d’Italia, the powerful exhibition season continues, the epicenter of contemporary artistic reflection ready to be articulated in three important proposals.

“Chi sei, Napoli?” by JR (until October 5), the eighth chapter of the Chronicles project structured as a poetic investigation into urban identity through innovative photographic language.

– “Lady with Unicorn” by Raphael, a presence that marked the spring and whose exhibition ends on June 22.

– Also not to be missed is “David” by Jago, on display until October 26: a work that reworks the classical canon of Michelangelo to investigate the fragilities of contemporary man, using a strong sculptural language of powerful and effective narrative.

A few steps away, at the Capodimonte Museum, the baroque dialogues between Rubens and Baglione continue until July 7 (“Saint Sebastian Healed by Angels” and “Sacred and Profane Love”). The very delicate exhibition of Ludovico Carracci has just ended.

The Royal Palace, in turn, welcomes a unique and intense atmosphere until August 15 with “Giambattista Pittoni and the Age of Casanova”, a journey into the sensuality and refinement of eighteenth-century Venice and Naples.

Contemporary and Experimentation: new languages

The Neapolitan summer is also a push towards what is fresh and new. Until June 30, the Madre Museum presents “Euphoria Tomaso Binga”, a retrospective dedicated to one of the freest voices of the Italian avant-garde, who reinterprets the body, writing and feminism with irony and vision.

Similarly, until July 25, the CARTESIO of the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory hosts “Naples between city and cosmos”, a journey into astrophysics between installations and imagination, in an experience suspended between science and art. Special mention goes to the site-specific work “OH!” by Marcello Jori, installed in Piazza Mercato until September 29. Inspired by Pinocchio, this visual fairy tale transforms one of the oldest spaces in the city into an open-air creative laboratory, inviting the visitor to rediscover Naples through the lens of childhood and imagination.

Music: great concerts and author's notes

The soundtrack of the Neapolitan summer resonates loudly in the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, which hosts a series of concerts capable of attracting large and passionate audiences. Theatre and classical: the enchantment of San Carlo

The Teatro San Carlo, the beating heart of Neapolitan culture, opens its summer season with a program that enchants and engages.

26, 27, 29 June and 1, 2, 3 July: the ballet Onegin, Čajkovskij masterpiece choreographed by John Cranko, thrills with its narrative intensity and visual lyricism.

28 June: the soprano Maria Agresta, conducted by Marco Armiliato, will be the protagonist of a unique and extraordinary concert.

During July and August, the courtyard of the Theater will become an open-air stage for the “San Carlo Opera Festival“: opera, concerts and dance under the stars in the heart of the city.

Food & wine: taste and territory

Summer in Naples is also a journey through authentic flavors and excellent food and wine traditions. In the Campi Flegrei, the volcanic landscape will be the backdrop to the event “Praesentia: where the sea is cultivated” scheduled for June 30, to celebrate the harmony between land and sea with show cooking, tastings of native wines and stories of local fish. An experience that invites a slow pace, capable of combining refinement and authenticity, in a profound dialogue with the territory and its cultural identity.

From July 6 to 14, in addition, Bufala Fest will return on the Caracciolo seafront: mozzarella, street food and tradition in a popular but quality event, with show cooking and special guests.

Walks and guided tours

For those who want to discover the most authentic Naples, walks and guided tours offer opportunities of great charm. On July 20, the Donnaregina Complex will host Tableaux Vivants by Caravaggio, living paintings that, between light and silence, transform the Baroque into an emotional theater.

The Ancient Theater of Neapolis, on the other hand, with the guided tours “The Theater between the Walls” on June 28, will open its doors for a final cycle designed to immerse yourself in the thousand-year history of Naples, among ancient stones and timeless suggestions. A journey that pays homage to the theatrical and cultural vocation of a city that lives through memory and passion.
